Do you remember the faces of all 17 students fatally wounded at Parkland high school? All 58  holiday makers at the Las Vegas hotel resort?
What about the names?

The ages?

The hopes?

The dreams?
They all just become blurred faces, America.

“Guns don’t kill people, people kill people”: The rhetoric that is nothing more than an obnoxious, nonsensical chant. Providing those who have the intent to harm with the ability to easily and impulsively do so cannot conceivably result in a positive, peaceful outcome.

No, banning guns will not result in a total hault in attacks against freedom and human rights full stop.
But it can make a difference.

A young American teenager recently made a pledge to the government asking for semi automatics to be outlawed, stating that “you are either with us, or you are against us. If you are against us, you are signing our death certificates”. The rightness of tone and the accurate simplicity cannot and should not be brushed like crumbs beneath the carpet.

It is not simply a coincidence that, in 2015, approximately 14, 000 US citizens were killed by firearms (excluding suicides) compared to just under 20 in the UK.

The catastrophic collateral damage that the 2nd Amendment leaves in its wake is nothing short of a tragedy. 14,000 people’s deaths could have been prevented. 14,000 souls. And yet you still sleep soundly at night.

According to the guide chart of How Brown You Are, the recent 19 year old gunman was not in fact a terrorist, but a lone wolf. An anomaly, a rarity. A loner with “issues”. Racism aside, the fact of the matter is that these dregs, these “odd ones out” within American society are becoming less and less individual, and more and more frequent.

The 2nd Amendment states that it is a citizen’s right to bear arms.

The UN has stated since 1948 that everybody has “The Right to Life”.

If we are to live in a fair, just and safer world, then we must live by the latter.

It’s not simply time and finances spent bitching and squabbling: it’s lives.

Right now, the rest of the world has one clear message to send: Stop giving madmen the fucking ability to kill our children.

I’m sure, however, that you-the USA-will see sense. Certain, in fact: for this is the land of the free.
Home of the American Dream.

This is, after all, the most developed country in the world.
